Our Shift Groups

    Which course are you interested in?


    Support/therapy/development

    Any transition or life event can leave us with uncertainty and possibly a change in how we see ourselves and our future. Our range of SHIFT groups are a combination of therapy and support and designed to enable members to share their experiences and provide an outlet and safe place for talking as well as exploring coping strategies and practical tools to help support self-resilience and emotional coping skills for the future.

    We also offer a Development Shift group which is more focused on developing emotional and personal skills and therefore less about therapy and more about self-development in general.

    All groups are led by both Carol and Jane.

    Practicalities for all our groups

    GROUP SIZE: We limit each Shift group to 8 members to have enough time and space for everyone to be heard. The groups are locked – which means the membership stays for all the sessions –  this enables the group to build up trust without the disruption of a changing membership.

    ONLINE: All groups will take place via Zoom.

    NUMBER OF SESSIONS: All groups will have a total of 6 sessions and will run weekly (sometimes fortnightly). Each session will last 90 minutes.

    DATES AND TIMES: We have a choice of dates and schedules – most of our groups will run at lunchtimes or early evening during the week.

    COST: £110 for the 6 sessions.

    If you are interested in any of the SHIFT groups then please get in touch and we can add you to our wait list. If you are unsure if a group is right for you then we are very happy to chat about this. We aim to plan each group to gain the maximum benefit for the group members – so matching people to the right group is important for us and for you.

    We will begin each Shift group as soon as we have adequate numbers, so there may be a wait time before they start. We will keep you updated about start dates for your chosen group.

    Core Shift

    This group is suitable for anyone who is feeling in need of some space to talk or is feeling anxious and uncertain about how to manage their anxiety levels and would like to discover some emotional coping strategies.

    Bereavement Shift

    This group is suitable for anyone who is coping with a bereavement. Sometimes it can be hard to talk to family and friends and sharing your feelings with others who have lost loved ones can be a support.

    • Understanding the complexity of loss and grief
    • Sharing some useful theories and patterns of grief

    Mid Shift

    This group is suitable for women who are at a mid-life transition in their lives and would like to find ways to talk about their experience and develop coping strategies to help manage these challenges. Mid-life transitions may include adjusting to the ‘empty nest’; coping with menopausal changes; finding your purpose and understanding the impact of these changes on your mental health.

    • Finding a new purpose and direction
    • Dealing with changing relationships

    Development Shift

    This group is our ‘non therapy’ group and focuses on self-development and self-reflection. It is suitable for anyone would like the opportunity to reflect on their own way of being and how this reflection can support personal development and growth in their emotional skill set. It will involve some experiential learning to embed the insight gained during the sessions.
